Represent is all about observation, how something is seen, interpreted, processed and applied. This basis of approach was formulated by founder Negash Davidson; from the beginning he was always fascinated by what informs/tells us about a particular thing, what makes us identify something/someone. Was it just how it looked or was there more behind the apparent visual information? So in that alone he based his investigation and found not only is our recognition of something visual but that it's also related to supporting elements. For example in a person what denotes character is not just the physical features but how the person dresses and what their personalities are like, their mannerisms. This is what he felt cemented who a person was, so studies were done with drawings specifically done to not look “exactly” like the person but rather to use supporting elements, how they carry themselves, what they liked to do, or were found to frequently say. And it worked, people responded with comments like “Yeh that's so Tony” or “Yes Tamara always does that”. Through those tests and trials Represent was born and a different way of viewing one's self was created, one that viewed personality rather than looks.
