The Founder Born Feburary 15 1979 Negash Davidson loved drawing from an early age, actually he was taught to do so as he would be cutting up his father's comics to play with them instead. Negash grew to like all aspects of art but due to his nature it was the comical side of it that appealed to him. An observer at heart Negash would sit and draw versions of himself and soon thereafter his friends in exaggerated cartoon forms and they were quite a hit amongst them. He saw how they reacted to how he portrayed them and took note of what they saw in his drawings to recognize the person, and from then on the seed of what represent would be was planted.Negash attended Holy Rosary Prep were he began his artistic endeavors as he was the one called upon by teachers at times to draw illustrations on the chalkboard for science classes, at one point he was even a budding entrepreneur as he sometimes charged fellow classmates for drawings. He later attended Wolmer's High School for Boys where he surprisingly didn't take art at cxc level instead taking up Technical Drawing. When entering sixth form though he asked to do A level art with no previous knowledge of cxc art he was allowed to and being that he had none or little experience in method and application he failed to excel at the A level requirement but his lecturer still saw potential in his work. Later on Negash applied to the Caribbean School of Architecture (C.S.A.) and was denied twice, on the third try he also applied to the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts; he got into both, but chose to go to C.S.A. instead. After a year of it Negash realized he made the wrong choice but decided to finish the second year he had left to get his Associate Degree in the Built Environment. He then went to Edna Manley were he pursued a Diploma in the field of Visual Communication and specialized in Illustration. And it was during his tenure there that he developed the perception and theory that roots represent in what it does today, which is simply to “Draw out your personality.” |
